The Catholic and Mormon hierarchies and fundie/evangelical conservative leaders are all a bunch of fuckers.

It’s not a religious matter. Nobody says churches should marry gays. So churches should mind their own fucking business. Marriage is a secular issue.

In defiance of facts and social progression, many religions insist on a medieval approach to dictating every aspect of people’s lives, whether it be birth control or marriage or science.

It’s not about a quality of life or intellectual progression for the church’s followers. It’s about absolute control and protecting the church at all costs, and always has been.

Marriage is actually a legal issue, not a secular one, which is why there are so many people arguing for it. Because I’m married, I have a legal right and obligation to my beloved. That means his stuff and his person and vice versa. Not my parents, but to my spouse. This is what gays want. They want to be married, because they love each other, of course, but because they want to be LEGALLY recognized as such. They deserve that.

For many it is also a religious sacrament and I completely respect and agree with that, but when it comes down to law, marriage is a legally binding contract which every adult human has as right to partake.

I think many religious institutions lose followers because of priorities set by those at the top who are out of touch with their parishioners.

I also believe with my full heart that gay marriage will be a federal law in this country within 10-15 years. At least in my lifetime.

The sheep will follow the shepherd. It’s how Catholics came to believe in evolution where other ‘faiths’ won’t.
