It amuses me that they attacked Gingrich with a rare piece of footage of him seeming somewhat likable and not being a dick. The GOP really does live in that mirror universe where Spock has a goatee.

Actually, believe it or not, “dependant” is an accepted alternate spelling, and is the standard spelling in British English.

Interesting! I should have checked, I guess. Then I at least would have been one-up on Bachmann.

And of course, all would be well if Bachmann were in Great Britain. But she’s not. I’ve only ever seen it spelled “dependent”.

Have you no idea how much it enriched our typesetters to get rid of those extra “u”s? There are entire conspiracies based on Franklin’s interests as a publisher.

Acc. to Webster, “dependent” is the American spelling. Not sure about Canada and the rest, but it might have passed a simple spell-check depending on the dictionary.

Personally, I favor a small dictionary for checkers.
