I wonder how the racists will react. Asians are supposed to be the "model minority". I suspect they won't be seen that way if their numbers get too large.

I think this will be the new normal for America. Every day countries like China and Japan are moving further and further ahead of us in match, science and technology. These are the skills needed for the jobs of the future. Another thing I have noticed is that many Chinese and Japanese seem to be very disciplined, a trait that comes in very handy on the job as well as elsewhere in life.

They'll take Dr Fu Manchu out of that crate of racist packing peanuts and give him a dust off. By which I mean "recycle old tropes from the last two centuries about inherent Asiatic untrustworthy-ness and/or the image of the Yellow Peril and the Oriental Despot."

I mean, a basic part of racism is gaming the system of evaluation and moving the goalpost. When it is no longer feasible to question intelligence, you concern troll about inherent moral inclinations.... The era of colonization really created an elaborate playbook from which racists still sample--though for the moment they haven't the option of mass deployment of Vickers water-cooled machine guns.

They're racists...somehow, by White Christian God (or perhaps an equally white Odin), they'll make it work.
