To the right wing in America, denying their racism is reverse racism.

Looks like the same guy in 2011 (lives a few miles away now, same age).

Upshur County grand jury indicts 34 people

Dewitt R. Thomas, 42, of Tyler, driving while intoxicated; subsequent offense (habitual offender) on June 6, in county jail. While bond was set at $10,000, he cannot be released on bond since he is charged with parole violation.

As a "sacker" (though we are also called "courtesy clerks", "packers" and "baggers", though we do much more than just bagging groceries), I've encountered a few customers who wanted to bag their own groceries because they wanted them packed a certain way. I've never encountered someone that wanted to bag their own groceries because they didn't like the bagger's skin color or gender. This man probably searched for a religion that would allow him to feel good demeaning minorities and wouldn't be called out for it. Well, at least someone is standing up against him and his racism.

Quite frankly, I see this as a positive story. The store manager stood up to this raging bigot, called the police, filed a criminal trespass against him and banned him from the store. Doesn't get better than that.

Racism still exists and people are still going to spout this horrible nonsense. It's how we deal with it that matters. So kudos to the store manager and to this, “I’ve had several people say they would’ve touched a hell of a lot more than his groceries if they had been in line behind him,” Langston said.

Indeed, it is positive because if it does make it to trial, unless the judge is as much a loon as the plaintiff, it will get tossed and a precedent in that district will be established.

A shining example of Free Market Capitalism. Come into my store, act like an ass (not once, but twice), get tossed out and told never to come back as we don't want/have to serve your kind.

// Wonder if Ron Paul will stand up for the store owner?

that was my first thought when I read this.

It's worth noting that this racist nutbag has a violent past, as well.
The parole mentioned previously was for assault on a public official.

Yes, it's a nice story. The store owner did the right thing, stood up for his employees, and stands by his actions. Good man.

As for the lawsuit, a handwritten lawsuit in this day and age is a tip-off, even before we get to the fact that he's claiming to practice 'Vedism', which 'encompasses Hinduism' (read, spayshul sekrit knowledge that the white guy practices cooler than boring actual Hindus), that the guy is a nut.

BTW, I must confess I'm not entirely familiar, but I don't think there's anything in Vedic writings that says 'black people can't touch your groceries'.

"When I go through (a store) and buy groceries, those groceries become my property,

Ah...there's the kicker. See, until you PAY for those groceries, THEY'RE NOT YOUR PROPERTY.
So, until you've actually paid and taken ownership of them, the store still owns them and you can't say jack about which employee is allowed to touch them. Even at the counter, having gone through the scanner, they're still NOT yours until the transaction is complete. Usually, by that time, the person sacking said groceries is done.

Therefore, you have no case.

You racist, dumbass, inbred asswipe.
