re: #1 Charles Johnson
Done thanks. I'm a little punchy from 1400 miles in 4 days including driving home today.

Not sure if you saw my thread comment, so I'll repeat myself here because it really is nicely done. The HDR (I presume?) does make me feel old fashioned though. I was sitting here contemplating the clouds and if a Red or dark Yellow filter would be better with a 4x5 sheet of Tri-X and my old slightly wide angle 127/4.7 Ektar. ;)
Thanks for sharing this one here.

Just replied there, but this is not HDR, it's as shot save for a little dodging in the canyon to bring up the layers in the cliff faces. So as I mentioned in the reply, I also shot this with a 120 Pentax camera with Tri X film. 400 ISO, shot at 200, with a yellow filter. Bracketed -1, & -2 for coverage.

Good to know. Makes me think I still have some clue LOL! I'd love to see Tri-X shots when you get them dunked & scanned. What soup do you use?

I use a lab, not skilled in the chemistry anymore. The plan is high res scan the neg and do my dodging and burning in PS, and print from that as a sample. Give that print and the negative to the artist at the lab who will make a real old school print. *Fingers crossed at each step*

Sounds like a solid plan. Pick the highest silver content paper they have though to help the dynamic range and your mid to dark tones.
Which of the half gazillion MF Pentax models do you use? I caught myself wishing for a TLR the other day ...

It's a borrowed 645. SLR with a motor drive, but only adjusts in 1 stop increments.

They made some really awesome 6x7's too. You might really enjoy trying one of those sometime. It's a really interesting aspect ratio and they made some insanely great glass for them.
I'm really looking forward to seeing what you got. :D
