The Internet’s dumbest blogger, Jim Hoft, takes a June 12 news item as evidence Obama planned and executed a treacherous, if not evilly dishonest picture opportunity in order to, oh I don’t know, make people who like Obama like him even more?

What the media forgot to mention is that Scott Van Duzer reportedly visited the White House in June.
So the visit today to Scott’s business was not so random.

He then goes on to quote a news article from TCPalm to show Scott Van Duzer visited the White House, and in his mind I guess that means Obama.

“Van Duzer said his team is confirmed to meet with the U.S. Surgeon General on July 11 in Washington D.C. He added the deputy surgeon general will ride the last 50 miles with the team.”

I just have to ask Hoft, is there any place else in Washington where the Surgeon General could possibly meet with Van Duzer and the kids? Any place at all? I think the White House address is Alexander Hamilton Place and the Surgeon General’s office is 1500 Wilson Boulevard Arlington, VA. That’s a stone throw West of the WH across the river. You can get there by taking #66.

Where is the evidence the meeting was in the White House? Do you have any? No? That’s what I thought, you would have printed it if you did.

There is additional evidence Van Duzer met with someone at the White House and it comes from a 14 year old participant of the trip:

“President Obama and First Lady Michelle Obama, we’re coming to see you,” said Ken Pruitt Unit member Cody Hatt, 14. “First Lady Michelle is big on health and if she sees we’re trying to promote awareness in our generation, she might get involved.”

Hang on, that isn’t evidence they went to the White House. It’s evidence the kids wanted to meet with the President and First Lady. Did they meet with them? Who knows, Hoft sure doesn’t or he would have happily supplied evidence.

There is some indication of what the groups plans were and those plans did not include stopping at the White House:

“Team members have more than 30 scheduled stops at Boys and Girls Clubs and blood banks. A blood drive will be held at each venue. Van Duzer said members will stay overnight at several club locations. During the next ten days the caravan is scheduled to make appearances in Brevard, Orange, Volusia, Flagler, St. Johns and Duval Counties.”

That bolding you see is from me, just so Hoft’s sycophantic dimwits see my point.

I actually went to the Be a Hero Bicycle Tour facebook page to see if there was any evidence that Van Duzer got to meet the POTUS. There were a dozen or so pictures of the kids meeting with the Surgeon General and three of the outside of the White House - from a distance - but absolutely none taken from inside the White House or of the POTUS or the First Lady.

I can say with a fair bit of confidence, that trip did not result in Van Duzer getting to meet with Obama. If Hoft has evidence otherwise then he needs to bring it or STFU.

I think that makes the emotions shown by Van Duzer and Obama to be spontaneous and genuine. No evil intent there.
