Will you tell your children that a liberal government will increasingly marginalize, dismiss and weaken the support for and the safety of the Jewish state?

There are many who are not right wingers from the get go who were tricked by the right wing fear propaganda after 9/11 and bought into the fear that the left will destroy Israel - again the right wing took the old Cold War era fear of the left destroying America and transferred it over to fear that the left via some Muslim alliance is plotting to destroy Israel even though the relationship between the 2 countries is as close as any non NATO country (shared values, culture, ethnic and religious ties). But anyway, once the right gets you on the war and the existential fear mongering then you they seem to get you on their other agenda and you slowly morph into an all around right winger as you listen to FOX and right wing radio.

I saw it happen to old people that started off lefty and turned righty. My old man and I started off life fighting over politics - he was a Democrat and I a Republican leaner - and he retired and suddenly as I shifted left he is now a FOX news cult member and right wing radio addict. WTF, dad?

Anyone Remember the Alan Burke show ? Where the Liberals would come to get squashed by the intellectual looking and talking Burke .....the Audience cheered , anyone who criticized the Administration or the Vietnam War . was solidly talked over and put down by the magnificent Patriot Burke ...to the cheers of the audience .
Fast forward to 1980 ,[ I moved to Fla in the 70's] and one day rolling through the AM stations trying to pick up a Yankee Game and I heard a familiar voice ...it was Alan Burke ..but now on the Left pounding the Right leaners ,with the same vigor and method , but now he not only talked over them but hung-up on them , and to the approval of callers in .
I wondered if Joe Pine , had he lived long enough , would have switched too . But then there was Dick Cavet , who never changed to this day . Me and the ole' man , we never talked politics .I always knew where he stood though, and he , me . Neither of us changed .

Meh, artistic folks have an opinion, everybody has an opinion. I only resent having to share someone's paranoia.

A 12-Year-Old’s Trek of Despair Ends in a Noose at the Border
Noemi Álvarez Quillay took the first steps of the 6,500-mile journey to New York City from the southern highlands of Ecuador on Tuesday, Feb. 4, after darkness fell. A bashful, studious girl, Noemi walked 10 minutes across dirt roads that cut through corn and potato fields, reaching the highway to Quito. She carried a small suitcase. Debate Discrimination - Houston Chronicle
We're glad to see Mayor Annise Parker finally stand up and propose a human rights commission that will provide local due process for victims of public discrimination. Parker told the Chronicle editorial board that she plans to release a formal version of her proposal within the next few weeks, but sometimes the process is just as important as the result. As the energy ...

Russ Campbell’s Blog: Bill C-23, Fair Elections Act Seems Now on Solid Ground
Now that a Senate committee has recommended nine changes to Bill C-23, Fair Elections Act, the legislation seems pretty solid. And, since Pierre Poilievre has, apparently, indicated privately that he's open to changes, an amended version of the bill will likely become law by this summer. We would probably have gotten to this point earlier had not the minister responsible for the bill ...

Why the Temperature of the Yellow Sea Is a Big Deal, and Other Questions About the South Korean Ferry Disaster
The boat ran into trouble several dozen miles from Jindo, an island that sticks out of South Korea's southwestern corner like a little toe. Jindo is surrounded by a group of even smaller islands that are slightly farther afield from the mainland. The ferry was curving around those small islands at the time it issued a distress call. What caused the disaster? We ...

Calgary stabbings: How knife crime in Canada can cause ‘moral panic’
What Calgary police chief Rick Hanson called the "worst mass murder" in the city's history didn't end at the barrel of a gun. Instead, the 22-year-old suspect identified on Tuesday as Matthew de Grood is accused of entering the kitchen at a house party, taking "a large knife" and using it to fatally stab four men and one woman, all of whom were students ...

New York Electoral College: State Joins National Popular Vote Interstate Compact.
Ben Mathis-Lilley, Slate: New York Electoral College: State Joins National Popular Vote Interstate Compact. Instead of pushing for a Constitutional amendment, which would have to be ratified in 38 states, advocates ask individual state legislatures to pass an agreement: that they'll pledge all their presidential electors to the winner of the national popular vote as soon as enough other states pass the law to ...

The Insane History of Rockets at Jet Propulsion Laboratories
The Rocket Boys In the late 1930s, a group of Caltech graduate students were booted off campus after blowing up (part of!) their building during a rocket test gone awry. Unwilling to give up on the joy of semi-controlled explosions, the students and a few of their friends headed into the San Gabriel Mountains. They picked a deserted gully -- Arroyo Seco -- ...

 Frank says:

The person who stands up and says, "This is stupid," either is asked to 'behave' or, worse, is greeted with a cheerful "Yes, we know! Isn't it terrific!"
