The country of Israel was actually created peacefully.
I think it is a good time to inform more Lizards the true history of the region. Too many still think that Israel was a pity gift, given by Europe to the Jews because of the Holocaust.
This is simply not true. Israel traces it’s legal start to more than many years before Nazism. It is my belief that even very few Zionists know the whole story.
The country of Israel was actually created peacefully long before 1947, and long before the Holocaust. The land was not stolen by Jews, or conquered with blood by Jews. The land in question was part of the Ottoman Empire and was lost by the Ottoman Empire in WW 1.
The Allied Powers at the San Remo conference in 1922 returned the land to the Jewish People. This was voted on at the San Remo conference by Britain (David Lloyd George), France (Alexandre Millerand) and Italy (Francesco Nitti) and by Japan’s Ambassador K. Matsui. the rest of the world voted for this at the Anglo-American Convention (1924) and all the world powers at the League of Nations. The United Nations accepted this in full when they opened their door and replaced the League of Nations.
It was recognized in 1922 that the Jews were the indigenous people of the land. There was a binding international commitment to the Jewish people, based on the ‘historical connection of the Jewish people to Palestine and the grounds for reconstituting their national home there,’ a commitment which has never been revoked. There has been a continuous Jewish presence in that land for more than 3000 years.
The Legal Title to Palestine was therefore transferred peacefully from the Allied Powers … to the Jewish people peacefully. This was done with full Arab participation. In fact a majority of the Ottoman land was given to the Arabs that resided in Lebanon, Syria, and Iraq.
This land was not conquered through bloodshed by the Jews. Yes it was defended with blood. However that is hardly the same thing.
This isn’t about God, or the bible. This is about international law and very recent history.
The partition plan adopted by the United Nations on November 29th 1947 was rejected wholesale by the Arabs. They decided quite publicly that there was no reason they should settle for a portion, when they planned on stealing the whole. It was clearly stated by Arab leaders that the plan was to steal the whole territory through ethnic cleansing.
That offer, the partition plan adopted by the United Nations on November 29th 1947 was accepted by the Jews, and rejected by the Arabs, and has now expired. That offer, the partition plan adopted by the United Nations on November 29th 1947 was rejected and is null and void.
In no interpretation of International law or common sense is that offer held for the people who rejected it, and tried to use planned ethnic cleansing to steal it. Anyone who really thinks that the territories are occupied have bought in to the myth that the partition plan should still be considered legal. That would be to excuse and even support ethnic cleansing.
The West Bank and Gaza were in fact part of the land the was Mandated to England to be transferred to the Jews. The words ‘west bank’ describe what side of the river it is on. The real names of that land are Judea and Samaria. Judea is where the word Jew comes from. Samaria is where the ‘Good Samaritan’ was found. These lands have a long and well documented Jewish history.
A corollary of the inalienable right of the Jewish people to its Land is the right to live in any part of Eretz Yisrael, including Judea and Samaria which are an integral part of Eretz Yisrael, and part of the land returned to the Jews, by the entire world in the 1920s. Jews are not foreigners anywhere in the Land of Israel.
Anyone who asserts that it is illegal for a Jew to live in Judea and Samaria just because he is a Jew, is in fact advocating a concept that is disturbingly reminiscent of the ‘Judenrein’ policies of Nazi Germany banning Jews from certain spheres of life for no other reason than that they were Jews.
After 1922 and before 1947, arabs constituted 37 percent of the total immigration to pre-state Israel. There is nothing in law or even common sense that would make the descendants of Arabs who immigrated in pursuit of Jewish created jobs and economic opportunity ‘indigenous,’ while the descendants of Jewish immigrants who fled discrimination, violence, and genocide as ‘colonizers.’
In fact, in 1947 the word ‘Palestinian’ — if it meant anything at all — referred to Jews living in Palestine. The Palestine Post (now the Jerusalem Post) was the Jewish English-language newspaper. The Palestine Orchestra (now the Israel Philharmonic) was a Jewish orchestra, filled to overflowing with Holocaust survivors. The United Palestine Appeal, an American charity, raised money to resettle homeless Jews from Europe in Palestine — one of the things Arabs objected to the most.
Arabs living in the territory of Palestine were called ‘Arabs’
