He goes on to say:

But that was the very reason that they started the National Rifle Association, was to teach and train the civilian in the use of the standard military firearm. And I am one who still feels very strongly that that is one of our most greatest charges that we can have today, is to train the civilian in the use of the standard military firearm, so that when they have to fight for their country they’re ready to do it. Also, when they’re ready to fight tyranny, they’re ready to do it. Also, when they’re ready to fight tyranny, they have the wherewithal and the weapons to do it.

So, by his logic, the NRA is nessessary to train patriotic Northerners in the use of firearms in case the tyranical South ever betrays the country again.

Lucky for him, his audience has a boundless tolerance for cognitive dissonance.

Sheesh.

I guess the shelling of Fort Sumter is just a myth.

It was the stupidest war ever fought by anyone anywhere. Many southern states promised referendums, but instead they held conventions with hand-picked radicals to draft the articles of secession. Southern men who had no horse in that race were led to slaughter by a landed gentry hell-bent on their own destruction.

The one main goal of the war was to preserve slavery, but starting the war was actually the only way to destroy slavery, as the reconstructed south was unable to prevent the constitutional amendment. Had they stayed in the Union slavery would have continued legally well into the 20th century.

I’m not sure how long it would have lasted but I’ll say this, every day that slavery continued to be legal in this country was an insult against the principles this country was founded on. Anyhow, blaming the Union is stupid because when you look at what you’ve already said Re: Fort Sumter and add to this, that 9, yes 9 of the 13 states that eventually made up the CSA seceded before Abraham Lincoln even became President officially. And furthermore, the states rights argument is null when we see how the CSA handled unionist sections within their states. The CSA was a fraud. Honestly, it’s among the most stupid things that people celebrate in this country, hell I’d even say it’s the stupidest. I mean I understand that people have great great grandfathers and whatever who served bravely but most of them were unwilling pawns of the slave power.
