ATLANTA (AP) A Georgia congressman is using his Senate campaign website to give away a free rifle.

An aide to Republican Paul Broun confirmed Friday that the congressman sent supporters an email inviting them to enter a drawing for an AR-15.

Broun wrote that the drawing is intended to affirm his support for the individual right to bear arms. He asserts in the email that the gun is one that President Barack Obama wants to ban. Broun tells supporters that Democrats and the liberal media support the president’s mission.

Said email:

You know, anytime you see the word “patriot” in any context other than a conversation about the New England Patriots, five’ll getcha ten you’re either reading about or the direct words of seriously deranged wingnuts.

And a reminder, Paul Broun once had a very tepid answer to the question, “Whose going to shoot Obama?”, he has also called evolution “lies straight from the pit of hell,” and has compared Obama to Hitler, while also calling him a Marxist, all over Obama’s suggestion that their be a “civilian national security force,” which is a longtime wingnut fantasy about Obama.
