Excellent article. I have always thought we should be opening ourselves up to people seeking political asylum over this issue.

Though things aren’t perfect here, they are much better than Uganda, Russia, Jamaica, etc..

Offering LGBT employees in countries with harsh anti LGBT laws the opportunity to escape is a great idea. However, unfortunately it might be hard to get a lot of companies to do it., especially if it might tick off the authorities in countries with Homophobic laws. Contrary to what the article says if word gets out that your company is doing this, it might jeopardize their business over there.

agreed, but I think if a company is weighing up the human rights benefit versus real world cost (x loss of ability to affect change if they lost the market as you suggested) then we all win…

True, but given the fact that few countries have passed laws that basically make even helping LGBT people crime, it might be difficult to convince most American companies to through with it. But the ones that do will deserve to be praised for it.
