Reports: FCC Poised for About-Face on Net Neutrality
If you want Net Neutrality maybe it’s time to take that battle to the local level. The cable companies might not have to listen to the Feds, but they do have to listen to the local PUC and Cable Commissions.
My longer term prediction is that in most major metro areas there will be multiple cable providers building plant like mad the next few years, but not because of this. You see that coming with Google, Verizon, and now AT&T ultra broadband builds.
The Federal Communications Commission is getting ready to propose new rules that amount to an about face for the regulator when it comes to net neutrality, The New York Times and The Wall Street Journal are reporting based on unnamed sources.
According to the papers, the FCC is planning to allow Internet service providers to sell a faster pipe into people’s homes to content companies willing to pay for it. In other words, content providers could pay for preferential treatment into American homes.
