Hillary Clinton’s Lead Pipe Answer ‘Made Me Vomit in My Mouth,’ Flint Questioner Says
Walters, an early whistleblower in the Flint water crisis, had asked whether as president, Clinton and the Vermont senator would promise to require public water systems in the United States to remove lead pipes.
Clinton and rival Bernie Sanders did not give direct answers. Instead, Clinton proposed getting rid of all lead sources, including paint and dust, within five years.
“We will commit to a priority to change the water systems and we will commit within five years to remove lead from everywhere,” Clinton said.
Another thing she disliked about what Clinton said was the former Secretary of State’s focus on lead from paint and dust. Epidemiologists consider paint and dust to be the more significant sources of lead exposure, but public water systems have used those factors to downplay concerns about water lead.
“If you look at the numbers, most of the grants and funding go to lead paint, so to lump it all together is unacceptable,” Walters said. More: Hillary Clinton’s Lead Pipe Answer ‘Made Me Vomit In My Mouth,’ Flint Questioner Says
IOW we will just lump your massive immediate problem off to someday when other issues can be addressed as well. Unacceptable. This is the problem with comparative politics. Trumps extreme rhetoric effectively gives HRC a pass for all things wrong with her and her platform. Also unacceptable in my view.
On another occasion, she also got a pass for dumping constitutional due processes for gun applications through licensed dealers. Wut? Yup, as soon as she embraced the due process free no fly list as a way to screen applicants for gun ownership. Methinks her gun policy will resemble the California legislatures ill advised efforts more than the middle of the road.
HRC has her positives, many of them. I’m just completely unwilling to allow Trump and Cruz to make me blind to one whole side of the argument. That argument is how good a president would she be, without comparisons to the GOP.
As a Californian I can be very confident of a couple things. The primary will be over in all but technical ways by the time I get to vote in it. Secondly, I can be very, very confident HRC will handily take California in the general election with or without my vote. So I can vote the rest of the ballot or write in someone with less worry about helping Trump than I should have about Obama sending Feds to take away my guns.
I may have mentioned this before. But please do compare what happened in Porter Ranch. Southern California Gas Company, a regulated utility subject to California regulators and laws relocated thousands of people. Relocated schools, or at least is paying all the bills. Did Hilary or Bernie even notice? Did they speak so much as a syllable indicating Flint deserves relief like what Porter Ranch got? Not at all. They just blew it off with vague promises. Regardless of how awful TrumpenCruz gets, it won’t improve the poor answers above one damn bit. Shame on Flint, the state and local governments and the two candidates that blew the answer to the heartfelt public safety question at hand.
