Hasn’t taken long for the Trump brand of diplomacy to stoop to military threats. And against Mexico? Really?
My bet here is that this will lower Trump’s standing in the international community. And what if Trump does instruct the military to stage an incursion into Mexico? I can’t see the Mexican government agreeing to this so it would be an act of war. The Mexican president would have to respond. The really scary part, I suspect Trump is arrogant and ignorant enough to try this.

Yes, and there was some Mexican media also claimed that Trump made the threat. The Mexican government position appears to be saying Trump never said it. So there are only two possible scenarios here. Trump is either lying, or telling the truth. And really, if he is lying, that might actually be even more detrimental to the reputation of the presidency and the United States as, who in their right mind would trust this buffoon?

Related: Mexico has the eleventh largest economy, and only spends about .7% of its GDP on defense. For the most part, they can’t really compete with the US, so Mexico has built its military to fight insurgencies and cartels and smaller nations. What happens when the asshole next door starts picking fights?
