Atlanta school officials confirm a shooting at Price Middle School in Georgia.
School officials say two people were injured in the shooting. One 14-year-old victim was rushed to the hospital after being shot in the head, the Associated Press reports.
Atlanta Fire Cpt. Marian McDaniel says the shooting victim was taken to Grady Hospital but information on the teen’s condition was not immediately available. WAGA reports the student was shot outside of the school and was alert and conscious before she was taken to the hospital.
McDaniel says a teacher suffered minor cuts and bruises but was treated on the scene at Price Middle School.
Police say they have two people in custody in connection with the shooting, according to myfoxatlanta.com.
David Barton says that in the 1850s, there were no school shootings because all the kids brought their guns to school.
… and afterwards the schoolkids saddled up their dinosaurs and headed home for their chores and homework…
A proposal to name a school after a teacher killed in the Newtown, Conn., school shootings is set to go before a town council.
Stratford Mayor John Harkins is recommending naming a new elementary school named after Victoria Soto, a 27-year-old Stratford resident who died trying to shield her students from the gunman inside Sandy Hook Elementary School. The shooter killed 20 children and six women at the school on Dec. 14 before committing suicide.
A conservative Milwaukee clergyman says that homosexuality can be compared the the massacre of 20 school children in Newton, Connecticut because both are ‘terrible crimes and violate nature.’
Evangelical Clergyman Vic Eliason, who hosts the Crosstalk radio show for VCY America Ministry, spoke to anti-LGBT activist Peter LaBarbera on Wednesday about his resolutions for ‘Battling the Homosexual-Transgender Agenda in 2013.’
After LaBarbera told one caller that it was a ‘a lie from the pit of Hell’ that she should accept her son’s sexual orientation, Eliason explained that homosexuality, school shootings and drunk driving were all similar because ‘behavior is the problem.’
‘Let’s just think back a few weeks to a horrendous thing that happened in that little school where 20-some little children were killed because of the behavior of an individual who was deranged and in my book, demonic, in what he did,’ Eliason said. ‘But it was behavior. Let’s talk about a car wreck, when someone is driving drunk and the car goes crashing into someone and kills them, the result is horrendous but it’s because of behavior.’
Fox host and former governor Mike Huckabee attempted to walk back his comments linking a lack of religion in schools to Friday’s tragic shooting in Newtown, CT. But while Huckabee now claims that he did not suggest “prayer in schools” would have prevented the shooting, he indeed seemed to imply that religion in schools could have done as much in his remarks on Friday.
On Friday, Huckabee responded to a question about God from Fox host Neil Cavuto by linking the removal of “God from our schools” to mass school shootings.
On Fox & Friends Saturday, he attempted to clarify his comments, saying, “Yesterday, I was on Neil Cavuto. He asked me, you know, where was God? I said, you know, we’ve systematically removed him from our culture, from our schools. Well, I’ve been barraged by people who have said that I said, well, if we just have prayer in schools, this wouldn’t happen. That’s not my point.”
It turns out that Ryan Lanza, earlier misidentified as the Newtown school shooter, was actually the suspect Adam Lanza’s brother.
According to public records searches, Ryan and Adam Lanza have both lived at 36 Yogananda St. in Newtown. A Nancy Lanza is also listed at that address. News reports indicate that Nancy is the mother of Ryan and Adam, that she worked at Sandy Hook Elementary as a teacher, and that she is presumed dead. The Hartford Courant is reporting that, in addition to the 26 victims found at Sandy Hook Elementary School, “another person was found dead at 36 Yogananda St. in Newtown.” The Courant does not identify the person found dead at that address, but CBS News and CNN are now reporting that Lanza’s mother was found dead in her home.
Public records searches also show that the same Ryan Lanza who lived in Newtown has recently shared an address in Hoboken, N.J., with people named Jessica O’Brien and Michael Shapiro. The circulated screenshots of Ryan Lanza’s Facebook account show responses from a Jessica O’Brien and a Michael Shapiro. In response to Lanza posting “Everyone shut the fuck up it wasn’t me,” O’Brien wrote: “Do you need anything ready for when you get home? Can I set anything out for you to grab and go? Anything else I can do L”. In response to Lanza writing “Fuck you CNN it wasn’t me,” Shapiro wrote “this is batshit insane” and “how the fuck do they jump to such a conclusion with zero evidence.”
This makes sense in light of an earlier report that the shooter may have been carrying Ryan Lanza’s ID:
…Former Jersey Journal staff writer Brett Wilshe said he has spoken with Ryan Lanza of Hoboken, who told Wilshe the shooter may have had his identification.
