This is especially aggravating in light of the Vatican’s frequent claims, early on in the abuse scandal, that the abuse was a problem with the American church and that it was due to the American Catholic Church’s moving away from Vatican policy.

Then stories started coming out from the rest of the world. Then we find out that Vatican policy was a coverup. This really seems like, now, they’ve been simply lying. Not just telling a different narrative with a different perspective, but just flat out lying.
