My favorite (only/closest) diner, where I used to have breakfast two or three times a week, is another pandemic casualty. I thought it seemed to be taking way too long to re-open, and the brown paper covering all the windows did not bode well, but now there’s a sign that says “coming soon, Deli”.

I don’t need another deli. There’s half a dozen places within 3 blocks where I can get a sandwich. What I need is a place for bacon and eggs in the morning; or waffles with fruit; or some other breakfast-y thing. I’m super-irritated. This is even more annoying than the bakery closure.

Diner and gastropub a few blocks from me survived. Former is part of a family-owned chain that started at Villanova about 30 years ago. I was doing take out from one or the other every week or so over the past year as my part in trying to keep them going.
