these days i find that “conservatives” will matter of factly say “fascism originated in socialism”, citing that mussolini was once a socialist and of course the name of the nazi party had the word ‘socialist’ in it

actual adducements of fact that mussolini repudiated socialism, and that the nazi party repudiated the socialist part of their program before coming to power and never did anything socialist, are to no avail - the brain damage has already taken place…

There’s also that the Nazis liquidated the part of the party that did take socialism (for Aryans only of course) seriously.
