Sounds like you need a better bank.

Many, many banks offer “college plans”, typically no-frills checking accounts with low/no minimum. They’re handy if your scraping the bottom of your wallet. The theory is that the bank doesn’t need to make money on you while your poor, but it’s a good bet a relatively high proportion of college students will become wealthy, and will stay with the same bank.
