Ah, I think we have some confusion about terminology. The left (aka) liberals have always had a healthy libertarian movement. But I think you do have a point, somewhere through the 70-80’s libertarian influence receded as the left moved away from liberal towards progressive.

from liberal towards progressive? Would you like to explain that in context of the 1968 convention generally considered the peak of the far left (aka progressivism)?
