Yes, he cannot count on people being cynical, indifferent or apathetic about him, and there are no third-party challengers of note to siphon off votes, guaranteeing him an EC victory despite losing the popular vote.
This time he knows for certain that he will lose the popular vote, probably by an even larger margin.
But he is already telling us that he is going to everything he can to challenge any results that do not tally up in his favor and try to get the decision moved out of the EC into the courts.
