At the current moment, I would say that in most cases the adult world would be unreliable, and it would take a very large cultural change to get us to the point where adult society was a reliable resource for teenage kids in trouble.

And if the kid is in a non-consensual situation, she should still be using contraception if she can manage it. Preferably condoms.
