Oh, I’m glad he’s not being held by the Taliban anymore. Given the vile torture and murder of prisoners by Radical Islamists, I wouldn’t wish their dominion on a dog much less a person. At the same time, I’m glad the Army is likely to punish Bergdahl; He did the wrong thing and he needs to pay for having done so. But unlike some wingnuts, I don’t feel the penalty in this case should be death.
I don’t even think the calls for that have anything to do with Bergdahl himself. It’s more that it’s CRUCIAL to their worldview that the soldier Obama traded prisoners for be totally undeserving of rescue. He’s just a prop to them.
