The fundamental problem with prequels is that the audience knows how it will end. So there’s no real suspense. It is actually damn near impossible to do well.

That said, over the last few weeks, I’ve been rewatching all the movies as well as the clone wars. When all six movies are taken as a complete story, the prequels aren’t actually that bad. The problem is that Lucas is just not a good writer and he insisted on writing the prequels himself.

The other problem was the little kid who played Annakin. And Jar Jar Binks. Holy crap.
