Given that this all started with people bemoaning the potential loss of Social Security, forgive my lack of unquestioning sympathy. Because if you’re in your 50s and worried about it, well, let’s just say it’s never been present in my retirement planning. (If it is and I’m wrong, great!)

(I deleted a bunch of other stuff but let’s just say that if you think it’s frustrating to be looking at the work you’re leaving your family, imagine how frustrating it is to be staring at that work while constantly being lectured about how it’s the end of the world.)

Unless you’re like my son - whose scholarship based salary isn’t paying into SS - you’re paying into SS.
