My brother and I were talking about the eruption of flat-out racism. We’re both grew up in the Deep South in the bad old days (as opposed to the bad new days we’re now experiencing). He said he hadn’t realized how much of this stuff was still around. This kind of sheltered naivete is why he’s still the kid brother at age 71.
Racism wasn’t confined to the South. It was everywhere. Before the Civil Rights Act passed in 1964, people of color and Jews weren’t allowed at our borough swimming pool. The pool was “restricted”…
