re: #1022 Fabio P.Barbieri

you cover with insults anyone who suggests that there may be human weaknesses to be taken into consideration. You are macho, insecure, yelling, and in denial.

The story of Percival: men are warriors. We can’t help ourselves. We’ve been bred to fight other men for 150,000 years — maybe more. Often we fight in groups, and show off our expertise in front our friends. But like Percival, we have to deprive someone else of their honor (or life) in order for us to feel more honorable or more alive.

The story of Percival is like a software program that every man (even every civilization) must follow: You get power by taking it from someone else. It’s a zero-sum game — at least in our own minds.

The Nick Bostrom article was elucidating. Where are all the interstellar civilizations? Why can’t we see them? Did they destroy themselves? Are they hiding? Did God or Whoever create this whole universe just for us — a giant zoo/preserve where each individual can assume the role of Percival and follow the ritual rise, fall and redemption in a pre-programmed narrative?

Dude, I love you guys.

Cheers

Mike
