I think it was done to ward off another depression. Do we really need to go through one of those? Personally, I’d rather not.

I recognize the necessity of the bailouts. What I’m saying is that the damage caused by the financial industry to the US and the world isn’t limited to the bailouts. In fact, the bailouts are relatively minuscule compared to the suffering caused by long-term unemployment, or to the loss of potential output.
