I don’t know what snotty Cookbook Lady was whining about, pie crust baked with Crisco is flaky and delicious!

I don’t care much for the canned cherry pie filling, but it’s Zedushka’s favorite so I’m willing to compromise.

My mother used canned cherry pie filling, but also never did just a straight cherry pie. It was a recipe that in-family was referred to as “yucky cherry cream pie” since my sister apparently called it that once. I loved it though.

However, since I’m pretty sure it’s not kosher I don’t think you have that as an alternative. Not sure what the “cream pie” part was constructed of, though my current guess would be that it involved condensed milk.
