AED though, what makes Scotland so adverse to the Tories and it appears conservatism in general? Not really familiar with Scottish history in the years since they became part of Great Britain and then the UK. I do have tiny ties to Scotland, second great grandmother was born there but her family was all Irish and she left when she was pretty young.
Completely anecdotally, in places where the weather is always trying to kill you, people band together more naturally. I think the Nordic welfare states are a good example, and the American deep south a nice counter.
FYIGM is an easier sell when striking out individually is something that won’t result in your being eaten by a bear.
