re: #97 HappyWarrior
Cleland is the first one I really remember seeing it. Iâm sure it happened before him but I really remember it because of two things- Saxby Chamblissâs ad and Ann Coulter saying that Clelandâs clumsiness caused his paralysis. Both are people who havenât served in combat roles. As I said earlier, I really think if anything the Democrats have been far more respectful of John McCainâs service than his fellow Republicans have been. I understand why McCain didnât become a Democrat but he was way, way too willing to forgive the GOP for their attacks on him and furthermore, I was really disappointed that he didnât defend Kerry after Kerry had defended him. From what I understand, it effected Kerryâs friendship with him.
McCain actually did condemn the television adverts. He also called on President Bush to condemn them. Bush would not, nor would his campaign. They offered a tepid âof course we would never question Senator Kerryâs service.â (They let Karl Rove and T. Boone Pickens do their dirty work for them.)
