The potlock is a good idea, actually. Keeps everyone from becoming overly introverted in their embarrassment over not foreseeing this mess, or not saving adequately for the future (in their opinion). These are mostly very decent folks who will blame themselves for their situation. Keeping everyone connected is very healthy and may help with any community activism that may become warranted in the coming months.
