re: #978 turn

I was in Sac when the LP hit. You know what? I didn’t even feel that one. I was in the backyard throwing the Frisbee for my Shepard and I remember hearing the water sloshing out of the pools that my two neighbors had. I thought to myself that’s weird, someone dove into the pools at the same time and I didn’t even hear voices before hand. The turnwife was watching TV inside and yelled out to me shortly thereafter that a huge quake had hit SF. The ones that really jolt my house come from the Sierras.

I was still in California when LP hit. A real attention getter. I lived in an area that was crisscrossed with faults (One of them being the Hayward fault) and LP activated one of the other faults. So, instead of just the sharp 17 seconds, we ended up with an additional 30 seconds of a rolling 5.8 - still attention worthy. Total quake time - about 47 seconds - which is an eternity when the ground is moving beneath you.

Being home to watch the World Series (SF vs A’s - never lost cable) I seriously wondered when the house would start falling down around my head.
