The Bassholes had a thing, no doubt. But the thing that made the White Stripes so cool is that they were so completely incompetent at playing their instruments, but somehow made it work amazingly well. They sucked, but they were awesome.

See, I don’t think they sucked as much as all that. Jack White has shown remarkable growth in his style over the years. Sure, they probably started out sucking, but they grew, and Jack White, at least, seems to continue to do so. Meg White (according to a recent Rolling Stone piece) appears to have become a hermit. What a waste.
