I’ve known people internet stalked for reals. Pictures taken of their home, their address, phone numbers, names of their relatives posted on forums to enable other people to more easily find them, harrassing emails that were well researched enough to be frightening, the sort of private information that PIs find out. The stuff Charles talks about. less scary than what he endures because these are just geeks angry at geeks, but still fucked up. Michelle Malkin engaged in a little of this during the SCHIP thing.

99% of the people talking shit, they’re totally just harmless blustery keyboard commandos, bitching on blog forums. But there’s always the 1% who wants to be known for being the guy who told the enemy in meatspace. The unstable wacko who has nothing going for them and wants to be approved of by the internet.
