Because it’s not the name of the company. And calling it by the ten year old incorrect name “British Petroleum” is kind of nationalistic and general bad taste IMO.

Calling it BP because the company wants to greenwash out any reference to oil in their name is kind of stupid, imo. They are a petroleum company.
