No democracy with a national health care plan, that I am aware of, insists that you use it. People are free to go with private programs and practices. Dunno. I used Britain’s NHP for a year, and it was fine. I keep hearing these horror stories, but it was perfectly fine.

Uh, actually the British system did for many years. Canadians come to the US if they can pay cash, they have no option in Canada.
