This isn’t about lack of resources or effort. It’s that no one on this planet has the ability to shut down this flow at those depths and pressures. The oil industry is a pretty cooperative bunch: if BP needed something that Exxon had, they would get it.

The sad fact is that the oil industry has sold us (and itself) a bill of goods. They said (and probably believed) that this couldn’t happen (it obviously could) and that if it did they could fix it (they can’t, not in less than several months).

I’m gonna be sick….the Gulf is one of my favorite regions in the country
