The demographic and geographical advantages at this point means that Hillary has to concentrate in fewer states to get to 270 than Trump does to get there. Trump’s on the defensive to the point where certain states that are ordinarily locks for the GOP are looking iffy.

It’s up to the Clinton campaign to not only press this advantage, but to make sure that GOTV helps the down ticket races. That’s going to be key.

And further complicating Trump’s task at this point is his harebrained idea to try to won both California and New York in the general. Political reality says that he might as well haul a bag of money out into the yard at Mar-a-Lago and set it on fire for all the good it will do him.

But, hey - Trump’s set that as a goal, and he’s likely to overrule his advisors (who are probably telling him that he’s out of his mind to try and win two heavily Democratic states) in order to prove he’s a ‘winner.’ To which I say, go ahead and burn that money, Donnie. Less cash to spend in states you’d actually have a chance of winning.
