I think McCain got the nomination because it was his turn. He actually had a decent chance until he picked Palin. If he had picked a serious VP he would have done much better against a very inexperienced Obama.

President of the US isn’t fucking jump-rope. This “it was his turn” crap drives me fucking nuts…either he was the best the Republicans had to offer, like they said he was at the time, or he wasn’t. Of course, everyone who gets nominated gets called “the best we have to offer” because, well, everyone’s kind of stuck with them anyway…
