This is a big deal - gay marriage is not officially legal here in NM, and the SC just affirmed gays as a protected class. There is a lot of momentum here in the form of legal action and some county clerks wanting to issue gay marriage licenses. I think one is actually issuing them now. I bet it is legal in NM in the very near future.

One of the clerks already is, on the grounds the NM Constitution specifically has a nondiscrimination clause. The State Attorney general looked at it and said, “Yup, that’s right.”
