I can understand this guy’s anger, but the truth is, I think Lingle’s stance—this is dumb, I’ve told you it’s not true, go away—was better. These hard-core believers will never be satisfied, they will never get over this, nothing will ever convince them.

This is what I was trying to get at above, you can’t engage the crazy without in some small way also legitimizing it.
