Yeah. In the end life will go on even if the human species does go extinct. Which as we well know is very well possible.

Oh, it is actually inevitable - all species of (multicellular) animals eventually to extinct. Either they are replaced by superior versions of themselves, or the entire line gets superseded.

However, humans will be (apparently) the first species to cognitively be aware of and unwilling to stop their own extinction.

As doomer as I am, I don’t expect the Homo genus to go totally extinct anytime soon. Oh, we’ll kill off the rest of the megafauna that is left, as well as most of the smaller animals and a good portion of the larger plant life… but even thousands of years from now, on a denuded planet, a few of our ancestors will be around, living off of jellyfish and crabgrass.
