Ireland seems to be bucking a lot of the rightward turns in society too. Their Taoiseach is not only the son of an immigrant but openly gay as well. As an American of Irish descent who also lived in Ireland one summer, I’m proud. The Irish people have always been a kind hearted people but Amendment 8 was a stain.
