Wow. In exchange for Rick Wagoner stepping down, Obama’s staff will work with GM to come up with a better plan, will provide capital for 60 days .

(sounds to me like Wagoner called their bluff)

And Chrysler “needs a partner”. Fiat!?!?!?! OMG. OMfG. OMfROFLG.

What could possibly go wrong? Obama needed a scalp, and Wagoner fit the bill, even though by most accounts Wagoner did the best he could under the circumstances without breaking contracts with the unions. He’s cut staff by 50% and it’s still not enough. Obama decided that Wagoner had to go, even though shareholders didn’t think that was the case.

And now he thinks that the automakers aren’t viable? That’s after giving them billions that we’ll never recoup. Great. Now, he’s thinking of liquidation if Chrysler doesn’t merge with Fiat. Excellent. Why Fiat? And why decide now that Chrysler deserves to die, when that decision was just as apparent last year before the billions were given?
