If the German people had organized and resisted the rise of National Socialism in the 1930s, history would have been very different.

The problem was that Germany’s economic crisis was beyond the capacity of the mainstream parties to solve and the SA’s main opposition in the streets were the Communists, and they scared middle-class Germans far more than Hitler. Which is understandable, since non-Jewish middle-class Germans were not on the Nazis ‘kill list’ but were on the Communists’ ‘kill or dispossess list’.
