My guess is she had Twitter open, set the phone down or slid it into a pocket/purse, and whatever it was brushing up against typed in a bunch of emojis and activated the Send button. From personal experience, I can tell you that just having an app open with your phone in your pocket can produce some unusual results.

Maybe one of her kids got a hold of it. My dad one time got a text from my SiL but it was actually just my niece playing around.
