Speaking with some friends yesterday about the proposed health plan and all the flow charts that have been shown. I suggested that one version has “The IRS” at the end of one chart, while another chart would have a gas/euthanasia chamber at the other.

Though we scoff at the concepts of Soylent Green, I do believe it possible (though not probable at this time) that such a world could come to be where people who are old and otherwise tired of life could submit to some form of state-sponsored suicide program. It’s not that far-fetched.

Already happening in the Netherlands, I believe. Doctor-assisted suicide is legal there, and if you have state-paid health care — which some people do — the government will essentially pay for you to be killed.

(Though I’d have to double-check this. Will look up now.)
