I would agree with that wholeheartedly. I’ve been making it a habit of telling people who perform service roles at restaurants and shops “Thank you, have a nice day/night” whenever I’m preparing to leave. You should see the way these people react; surprise, or just big honest smiles and “thanks”. It’s like common decency is something they don’t see every day.
