The TPP had some awful provisions in it (e.g., US copyright insanity, companies able to sue for lost profits due to ‘regulations’ come to mind, and I’m sure there were others), but it would have been a useful counter to Chinese influence. Perhaps it was a net positive, perhaps not.

But it had no defenders in the end. Rightly so, IMO. These trade deal are a symbol of globalist business as usual, which is in the process of taking almost everyone’s job away just to make the Davos class richer.

I think it would have been a positive net against Xi’s soft power moves in the Pacific Rim. Imo the people who led the opposition against it- Sanders and Trump are ignorant of how soft power is important.
